One day, Iran's last king decided to leave a memorial of himself. He invited famous architects from throughout the country to design and build a wonderful monument. Shahyad is located in the west of Tehran. The design features are a blend of different periods in the history of Iranian architecture.
Please look at the top and ramparts. The design for these parts is based on features from before the Islamic period. The rhombi are based on designs in the Islamic period.
After the revolution, the government no longer cared about the Shahyad monument, because it was the memorial of a king.
